At least two people are dead and many more have been injured after at least two gunmen opened fire in a Florida nightclub during an event for teenagers. According to local news, children as young as 13 were inside Club Blu in Fort Myers at the time of the attack at 1am local time. Three suspects have been detained. The area surrounding the nightclub has been cordoned off by investigators, with at least 17 victims being treated at Lee Memorial Hospital and injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening after gunmen sprayed the revellers with hundreds of bullets.

A police statement revealed officers arrived on the scene to find a number of people lying in the car park having suffered gunshot wounds. Police are working to establish a motive for the attack, with two further locations also connected with the incident.
