A number of Irish schools have sent out letters to parents over the past two weeks about the selfie craze. Children sharing snaps of their first week back in school has become an issue for teachers thanks to the rampant spread of head lice. Social media posting is being blamed for a rise in the number of cases as children huddle to capture and share the #BackToSchool pics. Doctors and pharmacists are warning that the organism mutates and become resistant to the chemicals used to treat the problem. Parents who have been using shampoos on their children as a precaution only work if the children have already got head lice. It is advised to first inspect your child's hair with a comb. According the Independent, the Irish Pharmacy Union (IPU) has stated that one in ten children has head lice, with most of the infestations occurring in children aged between four and 16 years. The IPU reported that in more than 25 US states the little pest has become resistant to shop-bought treatments due to their overuse.
