The 4ft by 8ft pods were created by Mamava a company that specialise in design solutions for nursing mums on the go. Their mission is to make the world a friendlier place for women to breastfeed or pump.
Natch, as with anything regarding breastfeeding these days, there's been a bit of a knee-jerk reaction of mild outrage. Some feel that by installing these pods woman are being made to feel that they need to hide their breastfeeding, while Amy Packham writing for the Huffington Post likened the pods to portaloos.
Personally I think it is a nice option to have available for women who don't particularly want to breastfeed in a stressful environment like an airport. I also like that the pods will facilitate woman who are pumping and may need a power point to do so.
What do you think of the nursing pods? Are they providing choice for nursing mothers or hindering the campaign to normalise the normal?
