Move over Thomas the Tank Engine, here comes Donal the DART

Melissa Carton

Make way on the platform, here comes Donal the DART!

My children love reading. I’m usually lucky if I can get away with only doing five stories a night before bedtime.

Because they go through books so quickly and don’t want to re-read the same story too many times, I’m always on the look out for new children’s books.

If they’re by an Irish author, even better, which is why I got excited when I discovered this new little railway friend.

That’s right, Thomas the Tank Engine has some serious Irish competition now with Donal the DART.

Donal the DART is the first book in the DART Friends series by Ken Doyle.

In the book, your child will read all about the adventures and antics the little green passenger train and his friends get up to.

There is also a bit of a mishap when Donal over-sleeps and is late picking up his passengers – he is a DART after all.

Will Donal be able to rectify this mistake and save the day?

Guess we’ll just have to pick up a copy and find out, because I really need to know if he gets this sorted.

If you think your child would love reading about Donal the DART, the book is available to order online from Waterstones, Hodges Figgis and Foyles bookstores and is priced at €4.99.

You can also subscribe to the Donal the DART newsletter to be informed on when the other books in this exciting new Irish series will be released, through the Donal the DART website here.
