On paper, picking a name for a bump seems like it should be really fun but I have to admit both times I’ve tried, it has been a nine-month headache.
Maybe I’m too indecisive, or maybe my other half is far too assertive with his opinions, either way trying to name our bump has thus far been completely unsuccessful. My mother isn’t helping matters as she parades out a series of ever-more bizarre names (Ottilie, Harper, Highland…) and is vehemently opposed to any of my slightly more average, less bully-attracting monikers:
“I like Seamus,” I’ll tentatively suggest.
“Don’t be ridiculous; we’re not naming the child Seamus.”
And this is ‘ridiculous’ how? I wonder. Seamus is a perfectly lovely name. And since when are ‘WE’ naming the baby?
