Names ending in -a are having a moment.

And for good reason.

I am all sorts of biased (as both my children’s names end in -a), but really, these names are so soft and pretty sounding. And just because these are popular at the moment, it doesn’t mean you can’t find names that both follow the -a ending trend, yet are still rare enough that not every other child in your little one’s future school class will have the same moniker.

Don’t believe us? Just take a look at the below names:

1. Gaia

Original and stunning, Gaia actually means ‘earth,’ and is the perfect choice for mums and dads looking for something pretty unique and celestial.

2. Lia

Italian, Portugese and Greek form of “Leah.” And one helluva cute moniker, if you ask us.

3. Reina

According to Baby Centre, Reina is of Yiddish and Spanish origin and actually means “Queen.”

4. Thea

Thea is a shortened form of Theodora or Dorothea, and is much used in Scandinavia, where it has been topping the girl name charts for years now.

5. Kora

Unknown meaning, but a strong and yet beautiful name for your little girl, we think.

6. Mara

In Scottish and Irish origin, Mara can be taken to mean “from the sea.” But the name also has Hindu roots, where Mara, in fact, was the Goddess of rebirth and death.

7. Alma

Thought to come from the Spanish word meaning “soul,” we think Alma might make the perfect choice for your newest little person.

8. Mila

Who wouldn’t want to share a name with the gorgeous, funny and adorable Mila Kunis?

9. Becca

Many will no doubt think it is a shortened form of Rebecca, but we think “just” Becca on its own is a sweet but stylish name that would make an excellent choice for your baby girl.

10. Rhea

Another name with multiple meanings. In its Greek origin, Rhea means “flowing river or stream” while in Latin, the name means “poppy flower.” Both, I think you’ll agree, rather adorable.
