With only two more days to go of 2016, we are already starting to get excited for what the new year will bring.
As in; what are we going to be wearing, eating and, most importantly, calling our babies.
And while we don’t have a crystal ball here at HerFamily HQ, we have done some (online) digging, and can now reveal an exclusive list of names we feel pretty certain are going to be on lots of parents lips – and minds – in the 12 months that lie ahead.
1. Primrose
Especially since Pantone just named this pretty shade of yellow a a 2017 color of the year.
2. Hope
2016 was, in many ways, a bit of a shitty year – and so collectively, the world has its hopes set high for 2017, something we think will be reflected in monikers chosen for brand new little earthlings.
3. Corden
Inspired by the Carpool Karaoke host, we think Corden has a nice ring to it, no?
4. Evelyn
Also, Lillian. And Edith. Basically, any name that feels a little ‘granny old-school.’
5. Elio
This French baby boy name is short and sweet, and unusual enough that modern-day, 2017-parents might find it pretty perfect.
6. Waverly
Brooklyn has been climbing the ranks for some time now – as have many other destination names. But we think this might be the year when parents start looking for more as-of-yet-unused-as-names places to call their kids after. Waverly, a district in the grater state of New York, being one of them.
7. Cuba
As this destination now continues to climb in the travel trends charts, we predict it will also influence many globetrotting parents into naming their kids after it.
8. Hero
Coined by new celeb dad Terrence Howard, this trend sees you naming your baby after the type of person you most want them to grow up to be. (Here’s looking at you, Dream Kardashian!)
9. Mateo
On the rise in Scandinavia, we think Mateo will catch on as a moniker for little boys on our shores soon too.
10. Lorelai
Thank you, Netflix, for fueling our Gilmore Girls obsession further.
11. Kailan
We think slightly fantasy-sounding names will continue to rise and rise in the new year.
12. Poppy
Flower names are seriously trending, thanks to celeb parents like Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis, who named their daughter Daisy, and John Krasinski/Emily Blunt, who named their little girl Violet.
