The 20 Hippest Hipster Baby Names For Boys And Girls

Sive O'Brien

Definition of a Hipster: a subculture of urban, bohemian twenty -and-thirty-somethings with a particular sartorial code and taste in music (and artisanal coffee). Independent people, creative thinkers with an appreciation of art and indie-rock, counter-culture and the latest trends and tastes with a free-thinking state of mind.

Well, any of this describe you? Maybe you don’t think you can quite nail the sartorial code or the non-conformist attitude, or maybe you’d like to, but you’d rather channel your inner hipster via your baby’s. Damn those glamourati reproducing celebrities and their cool kids; they’ve made us up our game in the name stakes in the constant quest to create micro hipsters, for at least as long as we can take the photo, anyway.

And there’s nothing wrong with that, ’cause who wants to conform anyway? Not us, and we like to think of ourselves as creative-thinkers pushing the boundaries and not being jealous at all of celebrities and their designer kiddie wardrobes. We’re looking at you, Jessica Alba.

Here are a few to tempt the ‘hipsterism’ in you, now all you need are some braces, baby moustaches and checked shirts for the boys, and giant floral headbands, a cashmere snood and Docs for the girls. Despite the fact that they won’t want to wear any of the above…
