Still searching for the perfect name for your little one?

We get it: it can be tough.

After all, there’s a lot to consider. You want it to be unique, but not so much so that they end up spelling it out for the rest of their lives.

But then again, you also don’t want it to be so popular that they end up sharing a name with half the class when they get to school age.

Plus, you want it to match with your surname – and it has to be one both you and your partner agree on.

But that doesn’t mean you have to go with anything too complicated.

In fact, more and more parents are looking toward the past for inspiration when it comes to finding the perfect name for their little one.

The folks at Nameberry have put together a list of absolutely gorgeous ‘lost’ baby names.

They looked at the statistics for last year to find the names which have made an appearance on the baby name charts for the first time in years, decades, and even a century.

Last recorded in 1998. 5 girls given the name in 2018.

The perfect option for parents-to-be with a fondness for word names.

Other, similar-style names, returning to the list include Euphoria, Cinder, Crescent and Spiritual.

Bee

Last recorded in 1996 for girls; 2000 for boys. 8 girls given the name in 2018.

The short-but-sweet nickname has proven to be a winner with parents – and its not the only one.

Dot, Lulie and Goldi have charted for girls, while Hud and Montie have resurfaced in the charts for boys.

Cobra

Last recorded in 2003. 5 boys given the name in 2018.

Because sometimes, things can get a little wild.

Iron, Render and Tarzan are all other epic names which have made it onto the list again.

Garrhett

Last recorded in 1997. 5 boys given the name in 2018.

Garrett and Rhett are among some of the popular names nowadays – so this combines the best of both worlds.

Other mix-and-match names on the rise include Isidor, Meryk, Wrenn, Eufemia and Octayvia.

Pearlina

Last recorded in 1970. 5 girls given the name in 2018.

An adorably dainty take on the vintage name, Pearl.

Lucetta, Reinette, Idalina and Ozella are also among the vintage girl names making a comeback.

Saunders

Last recorded in 2001. 5 boys given the name in 2018.

The idea of surnames as first names is one that’s been gaining more and more popularity among parents-to-be – it’s just a matter of finding one that isn’t too overused.

Philips, Nicholson, Gilson and Wellesley are also all on the rise again.
