Would you pick the same name for your baby that was given to a dog?

Some of us will have names in mind, some of us don’t know until the little ones arrive.

However, if we get a name stuck in our heads, it can be hard to not stop thinking about it.

A soon-to-be mum took to Mumsnet to ask the opinion of other parents after she had a particular name in mind for her baby, but now her friend has called her new dog that exact same name.

She said:

“If you loved a name BUT you knew someone who had a puppy the same name?

“I have been in love with the name Ivy for a wee girl for yearrrrs. Due in 11 weeks and ivy has always been the front runner. One of my friends has recently got a puppy and sods law named her Ivy.

“Would it out you off naming your baby if someone had a dog named it too?”

Many users replied to say that she should just go ahead and name her daughter that, because if she likes it then nothing else should matter.

One said:

“I wouldn’t let that put you off. It’s a lovely name and not like they will go to school together or anything.”

While another wrote:

“Ivy is a lovely name. If people opt for human names for their pets it’s bound to happen sometimes. I reckon all dogs should be called Rover.”

What do you think? Would you have a problem with it?
