Mums reveal the baby names that they would NEVER pick (for unusual reasons)

Keeley Ryan

Picking a name for your little one is hard.

After all, there are so many different factors to take into consideration.

You may want it to be unique, but not so unique that they end up spelling out their name for the rest of their lives.

But also, not so popular that they end up sharing the moniker with half of their class.

And, naturally, it’s got to be one that both you and your partner actually agree on.

Parents have been sharing the names that they would never pick for their little ones – and the unusual reasons why.

The original poster asked the fellow forum users AIBU to ask owyou would never name a child and why?’ – admitting that they would never name a child Mia (as it stands for missing in action), Cameron (what if she marries a guy named Cameron and then she is called Cameron Cameron?), or Claudia (since  it means “one who is lame“ in Latin).

Many parents attributed their list of no-goes as being because the names were “too overused” or brought up some bad memories from their past.

Others, however, had some more creative reasons why.

  • Lana
    • …as it looks a bit rude when it is spelt backwards.
  • Amelia
    • “I find the ‘me’ so whiney.”
    • Emma,
      • “My friends DH had an affair with a woman called Emma. Also the name of their 3 month old baby. My poor friend thought long and hard about changing it as it hurt so much to hear it all the time.”
      • Flora
        • “It makes me think of bacteria.”
        • Mercedes
          • “She’s a child, not a car.”
          • Graham
            • “It sounds like Grey Ham.”
            • Grace
              • “There are very few accents that say it gracefully.”
              • Fanny
                • “For obvious reasons.”
