The number one Disney-inspired baby name in the UK probably won’t surprise you

This is very cute, to be fair.

Lots of people are obsessed with Disney and lots of people have babies.

It’s only natural then that baby names inspired by the House of Mouse are pretty popular.

Lots of us have favourite cartoons and films from our childhoods that we can recite almost word-for-word so it makes sense  that certain characters’ names would stick in our heads.

Now new research indicates that a more recent Disney classic has had a big impact on baby naming trends.

It probably won’t surprise you to learn that Elsa is the most popular Disney-inspired baby name in the UK.

It peaked in popularity in 2014, the year after Frozen came out, with 3,101 babies being named this since then, PlayLikeMum found.

Second on the list is Tiana, after the heroine in 2009 film The Princess and the Frog; followed by Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Belle (Beauty and the Beast).

Somewhat surprisingly, Disney villains have also influenced parents’ choices.

While Ariel, the main character in The Little Mermaid, doesn’t feature in the top ten, baddie Ursula does.

Here’s the top ten in full.

  1. Elsa (Frozen)
  2. Diana (The Princess and the Frog)
  3. Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
  4. Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
  5. Minnie (Minnie Mouse)
  6. Woody (Toy Story)
  7. Winnie (Winnie the Pooh)
  8. Olaf (Frozen)
  9. Giselle (Enchanted)
  10. Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
