Revealed… The Most Popular Baby Names in Northern Ireland Last Year

HerFamily

Northern Irish parents are clearly inspired by what they watch… that is, if their baby name choices are anything to go by!

The top 100 girls’ and boys’ names for 2015 were unveiled this week and while the top ones didn’t contain any big surprises, we were surprised that some 980 new names were registered in the north last year.

(The term “new” refers to names that hadn’t been registered between 1997 and 2014.)

Among these so-called new names were references to some of the biggest trends in film and television including Frozen and Game of Thrones.

Arya, Elsa, Rita, Suri, Alexah and Lolly were some of the more unique choices for girls while the monikers for baby boys included Olaf, Theon, Tyrion, Cruz, Dani and Christiano.

As for the most popular names, the usual suspects ranked highly with James and Emily claiming the top spots.

Ella, Grace, Sophie and Olivia rounded out the top five names for the little ladies while Jack, Noah, Charlie and Daniel taking the lead for the lads.
