Trend Alert! These 10 Baby Names Are Looking Like They Will Top The Charts In 2017

Trine Jensen-Burke

New year (well, new-ish, anyway), new trends.

If you are currently rocking a bump (or planning on getting pregnant really soon), you might want to know what names are totally going to be trending this year – whether you want to go with them or completely avoid them for that same reason.

Here are Nameberry’s top prediction for names that are on the rise to be chart toppers in 2017:

1. Albie

We think Albie is mega-cute, and maybe something for those that are a little over Alfie?

2. Amara

Lovely – and names ending in the letter ‘a’ continue to be popular choices for baby girls.

3. Cassius

We LOVE Cassius.,

4. Ines

Well, thanks to Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively naming their second daughter Ines, we reckon this one will prove a very popular choice this year. After all; they did make a whole lot of parents go for James for their baby girls with their last baby name choice.

5. Koa

Noah is everywhere these days, meaning if you want something slightly different, Koa is a lovely choice.

6. Kyra

Again, the ‘a’ ending just works. Short and sweet, we like it.

7. Xander

X, Y and Z names were predicted to be big this year, and Xander will no doubt be a winner.

8. Portia

We love the sound of Portia, and think it will totally suit your 2017-born little lady.

9. Mateo

This Italian moniker is already a popular choice for baby boys among Scandinavian parents, and it is easy to see why.

10. Ophelia

Oh, Ophelia… And you know, you could totally call her Lia for short, which is all sorts of cute.

What do YOU think, guys? Are these a bit too out there or would you go for any of these? Let us know in the comments or tweet us at @Herfamilydotie
