Here’s how your favourite foods could be ruining your skin

A road map to your skin problems.

Could this be the cause of your breakouts?

While most women will know that breakouts are commonly caused by fluctuating hormones, our diet also has a huge impact on our skin.

And what’s more, the types of food we eat can cause different types of breakouts.

Yes, your face can bare the tell-tale signs of a bad diet with professionals being able to guess what foods you’re eating based on the map of your breakouts.

The health guru behind the blog Loveat has broken it down for us using very simple graphics and explains exactly why our skin behaves the way it does.

From the redness drinking wine can cause to the painful pimples that result from too much sugar, it’s all broken down below.

Wine Face

Looks like: Severe wrinkles, redness around the eyes and cheeks, sagging eyelids, dehydrated skin.

Why: As we all know, alcohol dehydrates the body, especially our skin. This causes the face to become dry and develop more wrinkles.

Signs of bad liver health can appear between the eyebrows, so if you’re drinking more alcohol wrinkles can appear in that area in particular.

Drinking also causes our capillaries to dilate, therefore causing redness in the cheeks.

Sugar Face

Looks like: Wrinkly forehead, losing firmness under the eyes, pale or grey tint to the skin, painful blemishes spread all over the face and thinning eyebrows.

Why: Sugar can weaken our immune system which then makes it more difficult for the body to fight off bacteria. That bacteria can then manifest in our pores causing blemishes to appear.

Our digestive tract is also mostly connected to our foreheads causing this area to become a major problem area.

Dairy Face

Looks like: Swollen eyelids, dark circles and puffy under-eyes, small white blemishes and black spots on the chin area.

Why: An intolerance to lactose has a direct impact on our immune system. By consuming lactose it then causes the body, and obviously the skin, to become inflamed.

The estrogen and progesterone found in milk also encourages the skin to produce more sebum than necessary which then, you guessed it, leads to spots.

Gluten Face

Looks like: Swollen and red cheeks, areas of pigmentation and darkness especially in the chin area.

Why: Again, gluten intolerances can cause inflammation in the skin. Those who are allergic or intolerant to gluten can often develop spots and bubbles around the chin.
