Italian women swear by THIS natural ingredient for flawless skin
Is there anyone more truly stylish and fabulous than Italian women?
We think not.
And yes, we are sure the sunshine and pasta and general la Dolce Vita is enough to make anyone look more glowing, but now beauty website Byrdie has also revealed what ancient beauty secret Italian women have been relying on for centuries to make their skin healthy, clear and flawless.
Word has it that people have believed Umbrian (the northern Italian region) water to have magic healing properties; it flows over the earth, picking up vital nutrients and minerals along the way. But it is the area's rich soil that are now getting the world's attention, with clay from this area being touted as an out and out miracle worker.
In fact, skincare brand Fresh is using this as the main ingredient in their now iconic Umbrian Purifying Clay mask – claiming there to be a difference between this region and other areas of the world, with this clay from northern Italy supposedly being higher in silica, has a neutral pH, and unlike other clays, doesn’t over-dry the skin when applied topically.
According to Byrdie, rumours has it that Umbrians have used the clay from their earth to do everything from heal cuts, bites, and burns to soothe diaper rash for centuries, some even supposedly even drinking it in the name of good help.
And these days, locals still apparently rely on this natural beauty secret for their skin, most often not even going for branded versions or products, but simply buying clay powder from their local pharmacies to simply mix with water and apply to their skin, a beauty hack that has been handed down through generations.
