Tried and tested : can the Insert Name Here face mask really help you get to sleep?

Melissa Carton

Is it too good to be true or does it really work?

I’m a really bad sleeper, always have been.

Winding down at night has never been my forte and no matter what I do I usually end up tossing and turning most of the night.

I’ve tried all the usual suggestions like avoiding caffeine, drinking herbal tea or warm milk and of course having a hot shower with some lavender.

I will say that I do find lavender quite calming but it’s never quite done the trick of getting me to sleep so I was intrigued by LUSH’s new mask Insert Name Here (it’s yet to be given its official name) which claims to not only give you a healthy glow but also help you catch some Zzzzs.

I love LUSH face masks and while I completely expected Insert Name Here to make my skin soft and gorgeous I also went into this test not expecting it to work sleep wise.

As I’ve said above just about nothing has worked for me in the past, but still I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been using Insert Name Here every night before bed and to my surprise it has actually helped me sleep better.

Does it knock me out the minute I put it on? No, but the same way that rubbing menthol on you helps clear your sinuses, wearing this face mask helps to gentle get my body into wind down mode.

I usually leave it on for 15 minutes, sometimes longer and then wash off with warm water. Washing it off is actually the best bit as the warm water really seems to activate the lavender and it’s so soothing right before you head to bed.

Since being released the mask has had rave reviews (in fact there are even Reddit threads dedicated to finding a tub as it sold out quickly) and honestly I can see why. It really does do what it says on the tin (or the tub).

LUSH are currently looking for those that have used it to suggest its final name and I saw someone suggest Beauty Sleep and I couldn’t agree more.

It makes your skin beautiful and helps you sleep, not bad for €11.
