The show paid tribute to Marc Pilcher and Carole Prentice.

The second season of Bridgerton has officially landed on Netflix, and as well as the fabulous costumes and scandalous storylines, many fans noticed how the show honoured two late members of the Bridgerton crew.

At the end of the first episode, a message honouring the life of hair stylist Marc Pilcher popped up on the screen, and the final episode has a title card paying tribute to Carole Prentice, who worked behind the scenes of the Netflix show.

Pilcher died in October 2021 at the age of 53. He had just won a Creative Arts Emmy for his work in hair styling on the show.

When his death was announced, many of the show’s stars took to social media to share tributes to him.

Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington on the show, called him “brilliant and visionary” in a post on Instagram.

She wrote: “So heartbroken by the loss of Marc Pilcher, the brilliant and visionary Hair and Makeup designer for Bridgerton Season One.

“Marc was so passionate about his work and so tremendously talented. Not even a month ago he won his first Emmy award. It’s a tragedy that he’s been taken so young when he had so much yet to do.”

At the time, she also shared her condolences to Marc’s family, writing: “He loved and cared for you all so much and my heart goes out to you all (…) Rest in peace Marc.”

It’s understood that Pilcher passed away from Covid-19, and Nicola urged her followers to remember to get vaccinated.

She said: “Please also use this as a reminder that Covid is still a very real and present danger, please get vaccinated and mask up to protect yourself and others.”

Season 2 of Bridgerton is now streaming on Netflix.
