“I was in a bad place.”
Dani Dyer has opened up about how “distraught” she was to become a single mother after her ex Sammy Kimmence was jailed.
The Love Island alum, 25, admitted she feared she wouldn’t be able to cope with raising her son Santiago, now one, alone.
Kimmence was imprisoned for three-and-a-half years last summer after defrauding two OAPs of around £34,000.
Speaking to her dad, Eastenders star Danny Dyer, on their podcast Sorted with the Dyers, Dani spoke of her initial reaction to what the sentence would mean for herself and her son.
“There was a moment where I thought: ‘Oh my God, I’m on my own with a baby, how am I going to survive? How am I going to cope?'” she said, adding that her dad knew “how distraught I was.”
“I was so emotional. I’ve never really spoken about it, but I was in a bad place.”

The reality star, who is now dating West Ham United player Jarrod Bowen, continued that she has since learned to enjoy her own company and appreciates having time to herself.
“For me now to enjoy my own company and watch that bit of telly and not think someone is going to come in and murder me… I never thought I’d say that but I love my own company. I love having my shower, getting in bed early, watching my telly. Just chilling out.
“When Santi is in bed that is my time to just do my own thing and chill out. It doesn’t mean you don’t want to spend time with someone, it just means you enjoy spending time with yourself.”
Danny added: “You’ve had to, really. You were put in a predicament, it wasn’t the plan for you. You’re a single parent.”
Dani has previously spoken about how her parents have been “an amazing support system” to her as a single mum and give her “so much help when needed”.

“It is hard but I am so lucky that I have got an amazing family who love Santi so much,” she admitted on Instagram last year.
