“Their names weren’t on the list”

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were not on the media list for the Queen’s lying in state.

The presenters have been hit with waves of backlash since skipping the queue at Queen Elizabeth’s lying in state.

The British public was outraged when the presenters were spotted skipping the queue.

They claimed they were there as members of the press, but a source has now confirmed that they were not on the media list.

A source has confirmed to MailOnline that they weren’t on the media accreditation list.

“When they got there, their names weren’t on the list so there were some discussions and – after some back and forth – Phil and Holly were given access and they were ushered through.”

The pair have been hit with so much backlash in recent weeks. There were even calls for them to step down as This Morning presenters.

ITV stressed that they did not skip the queue, but claimed Holly and Phillip actually there to film.

Shortly after the incident, the presenters issued a statement:

“We were given official permission to access the hall.

“It was strictly for reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK who haven’t been able to visit Westminster in person.”

Holly continued: “The rules were, that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to a platform at the back. In contrast, those paying respect stood on a carpeted area beside the coffin and were given time to pause.”
