What ever happened after that cocktail?

And Just Like That writers have promised fans that Samantha Jones will be involved in the second season of the Sex and The City reboot.

While actress Kim Cattrall declined a role in the first season of the highly-anticipated show, her character Samantha was still referenced several times throughout.

When we left off, Carrie had travelled to Paris to spread Big’s ashes and, while she was there, decided to reach out to Samantha in London to ask if she wanted to grab a cocktail.

When asked if Carrie and Samantha would still be keeping in contact in the second season, creator Michael Patrick King replied: “Yes.”

“It’s very funny because every single one of the writers has a different version of what happened during that conversation,” he told Variety.

“So, I think there was some champagne. I think there was a grownup back and forth, and a love affair that they realised that something’s more important than being afraid to heal.”

While many fans would love to see Cattrall do a U-turn and reprise her role as Samantha, it’s not looking likely.

In an interview with Variety, she said Sex and The City is “like an echo of the past” and not something she would return to.

Referring to how And Just Like That has continued Samantha’s story without her, she said it felt the character portrayed in the reboot seemed “different than the Samantha that I played”.

“It’s odd, isn’t it? I don’t know how to feel about it. It’s so finite for me, so it doesn’t continue.”

However, the actress admitted she takes pride in the fact that so many people want more from the character.

“That feels powerful, that I’ve left something behind that I’m so proud of. I loved her. I loved her so, so, so much. It’s tough competition. The original show is in all of our imaginations. But for me, it feels clean.”
