Tributes are pouring in for “America’s dad”.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have paid tribute to their very first on-screen dad following the sudden death of Bob Saget at the age of 65.
The 35-year-old twins released a statement honouring their Full House co-star after he was found dead in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida on Sunday afternoon.
“Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man,” the pair said in the statement, obtained by People. “We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has.
“We are thinking of his daughters, wife and family and are sending our condolences,” they added.
Starting as infants, the Olsen twins both played Saget’s on-screen daughter on the sitcom by splitting the role of Michelle during its initial run from 1987-1995. It was the first of many roles the twins would play before eventually retiring from acting.
They were the only main cast members not to return for Netflix’s reboot, Fuller House, in 2016 with Saget (Danny), John Stamos (Jesse), Lori Loughlin (Aunt Becky), and the rest of the family all reprising their roles either as main or recurring cast members.
Stamos also publicly reacted to the new’s of his co-star’s death, tweeting that he was “broken” and gutted” by the news.
“I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby,” he wrote.
Other members of the Full House cast paid tribute to the late actor.

Cast members of the hit series were not the only ones to remember Saget, with tributes referring to his kindness pouring in from all over Hollywood.

Comedian Pete Davidson posted a heartwarming note through Saturday Night Live writer Dave Sirus’ Instagram account, revealing Saget helped him get through “some rough mental health stuff” and always checked in.

Saget’s family said in a statement that they were “devastated” to confirm his death.
“He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter,” they said.
“Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”
A cause of death has yet to be revealed, though authorities have confirmed there was no sign of foul play or substance abuse.
