“I wish Molly the best.”

Matthew Perry and fiancée Molly Hurwitz have split.

The couple, who became engaged six months ago, have officially ended their relationship, Perry confirmed this week.

The Friends star confirmed the news via a statement to PEOPLE reading: “Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.”

Perry and Hurwitz, a literary manager, began dating in 2018 and announced their engagement in November of last year.

At the time, Perry said: “I decided to get engaged. Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time.”

This comes a few days after the eagerly anticipated Friends reunion, which saw Perry and co-stars Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, and Courteney Cox reunite on set for the first time in almost 20 years.

Comments surrounding Perry’s health were rampant after the special aired, with director Ben Winston later defending the actor from some of the “unkind” assumptions made due to his slightly slurred speech. It was later reported that Perry had undergone dental surgery close to the time of filming.

Winston told The Hollywood Reporter: “Yes, he was great. People can sometimes just be unkind. I wish they weren’t.

“I loved working with him. He’s a brilliantly funny man and I thought he had some great one-liners on the show. I felt just happy and lucky to be in his presence and directing him on something like this.”

Friends’ producer, Kevin Bright, added: “I talked to him. It was great seeing him again. And what people say is what people say. I don’t have anything to say about that, except it was great to see him. And I think he’s very funny on the show.”

“But yes, I think he’s OK. He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward.”
