“There is an active role the firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us”

In the latest teaser for CBS’ upcoming interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex sheds some light on the hardship she’s endured over the past few years.

Viewers of the highly anticipated Primetime Special can expect a one-on-one conversation between Oprah Winfrey and Meghan herself.

In this clip, the legendary chat show host asks the duchess how she feels about the palace hearing her speak “her truth” today.

Meghan replies: “I don’t know how they could expect that, after all of this time, we would still just be silent if there is an active role that the firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us.”

The duchess then elaborates on her relationship with the palace: “if that comes with risk of losing things, I mean there is a lot that has been lost already.”

CBS released another clip earlier this week, giving fans an indication of what to expect. Previous teasers showed Harry touch upon his mother’s experience with the Royal Family. He tells Oprah: “I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here, talking to you, with my wife by my side, because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her [Diana], going through this process by herself, all those years ago.”

This teaser trailer comes just days after Meghan responded to bullying claims from her former assistants. Earlier this week, she revealed that she was “saddened” by the claims which were made by staff members at Kensington Palace.

According to The Times, her former communications assistant Jason Knauf made a bullying complaint in 2018. The report alleged that Meghan drove “two personal assistants out of the household and was undermining the confidence of a third staff member”.

A statement released on behalf of Meghan read: “The duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.”

It continued: “She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good.”

The interview will air this Sunday on CBS.
