Finally, some good news.
Just when you thought 2021 couldn’t ever possible be saved, Westlife come and drop the most delightful news the country could have ever anticipated: their “biggest ever” world tour, and even some dates in the US.
The lads broke the news last night, sharing to social media that they had split from their record label EMI and were excited to embark on a new “groundbreaking partnership.”
“Due to a change of leadership and a breakdown of contractual negotiations, we have parted company with EMI Records by mutual consent,” they said.
“We enjoyed our time with the label and are very proud of the huge success we achieved together, including our no. 1 album Spectrum and were humbled to be the label’s biggest selling UK signed artist of that year.”

The group, who officially got back together in 2019, added that the split will allow them to begin “a very exciting new chapter.”
“The next 18 months is shaping up to be our biggest yet, including a groundbreaking global partnership which we will be announcing imminently,” they said.
“Lastly, the most exciting part of it all is that we get to see all of you again, and it’s been a long time coming, as we embark on our biggest ever world tour.”
This tour, dates TBC, will take the band across five continents, including for the very first time, the US.

Westlife announced their return to the pop scene back in 2019 with a new album and a wildly successful UK and Ireland tour.
Afterwards, an hour-long documentary special aired on RTÉ. Filmed over two nights at Croke Park, the film gave fans who didn’t manage to nab a ticket to the sold out shows the chance to be there, and to look forward to the next set of gigs the guys will be doing.
The group’s most recent concerts were of course postponed due to coronavirus. There’s been no official word yet as to when this world tour is set to kick off, but we’re being cautiously optimistic for a 2022 job.
