The real reason your child should always wear a swim nappy in the pool

Laura Cunningham

It’s probably not what you think

If you’ve ever forgot to pop a swim nappy on your little one before their swimming lesson, you’ll know a regular nappy quickly blows up like a balloon.

Of course, not using a nappy under their togs in a public pool is a no-no, for obvious reasons.

But here’s the most important reason to always opt for a special swim nappy when hitting the pool.

A regular nappy is obviously designed to absorb liquid. This means when they’re fully submerged in water, they can quickly add 2kg of weight to your baby or toddler and as Tiny Hearts Education explain: “This is dangerous in the water and can pull your child to the bottom very quickly.”

Lesson learned — if your forget your Little Swimmers, ask another parent for a spare.
