8 reasons EVERYONE in the family loves Funderland

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Brought to you by Funderland.

Oh, the memories.

There’s something about seeing the Funderland crew setting up in your town that brings out the kid in all of us.

In case it’s been a while since you’ve joined the fun, these days there’s plenty more to see and experience than the screams of your family members as they whizz around on the Speed Loop Rollercoaster

And now is your chance to find out for yourself; the magic of Winter Funderland is returning to Dublin from the 14th of December 2017 until the 14th of January 2018.

With over 40 attractions from around the Continent, Europe’s largest indoor theme park will be taking over the Simmonscourt Pavilion in the RDS.

An idyllic festival of family entertainment, this year the excitement happens in a wooden chalet village, complete with  a Christmas Market and Ice Skating Rink!

Here are eight reasons to bring the entire family:

1. There’ll be festive food galore: Nothing warms you up on a frosty December afternoon than a paper bag of hot sugared donuts or churros dipped in chocolate and hey; it’s Christmas so leave the diet at home for the day. While you’re at it, release your inner child and plump for a flurry of pink cotton candy too… and skip lunch to chow down on a delicious German bratwurst instead.

2. There’s a new Haunted House: You might have gotten a little bigger in the past 25 years, but somehow the Haunted House hasn’t become less scary. There’s an all new version ready to be explored at Winter Funderland this year so beware. If you’re easily frightened and enlist an uncle or auntie to take the kids inside if you don’t dare…

3. It’s packed with nostalgic old favourites: Children will be spoilt for choice with classic rides such as Chair-O-Planes, Waltzers, Dodgems and Granny will love the beautiful Carousel.

4. Everyone can enjoy it together: The all new Santa’s Family Roller Coaster, the Magic Cirkus, Christmas Dumbo and the Jungle River flume ride make it a family affair – bring the cousins too and snap some photos for the album.

5. There’s plenty for adrenaline junkies: Mums and dads with true grit can be expected to be cajoled onto some extreme thrill rides. Very few things make teenagers happy, but a trip to Funderland is guaranteed to raise a smile; especially when they set eyes on the all new Exciter, which is complimenting the Take-Off, Frisbee, Zero Gravity and The Extreme.

6. You can try ice skating! Winter Funderland’s iSkate-On-Ice is Ireland’s largest 1,000 square metre outdoor skating rink. For junior skaters, iSkate-on-Ice provides the Magic Vacations rink for children aged from three years upwards, along with balancing aids and double-bladed skates. Experience those perfect family memories of learning to skate surrounded by the lights and atmosphere of some amazing fairground attractions presented outside the main pavilion.

7. Funderland offers great value with the option of P.O.P (Pay-One-Price) Wristbands for unlimited rides (subject to height) or the traditional Pay-Per-Ride option. Even better value is available when you book your Funderland P.O.P. Wristbands and iSkate-On-Ice tickets online. There are also Gift Vouchers available on the website which make brilliant stocking fillers.

8. It’s buggy friendly

Looking forward to an hour’s peace and quiet with your baby while the older kids are exploring with Dad? Take a stroll through the pretty Christmas Market and stop for a hot chocolate to enjoy while you browse the handmade crafts, gifts and treats.
