You can take your GAA-loving bunnies on an Easter egg hunt in Croke Park

Easter egg hunts can be really fun – and adorably photogenic –experiences.

When coupled with Easter eggs from well-meaning grandparents, family members and the Bunny himself, however, they can also be the tipping point of a chocolate overload for your little ones.

Happily, at Croke Park they do things a little differently.

The GAA Museum, located at the stadium, has released details of its annual Easter egg hunt, which is just one element of its family friendly ‘Easter Eggsperience’.

Taking place on selected days between the 5-13 April, the experience begins with children being greeted by the GAA Museum’s mascot, Cluasóg the Irish hare – who must surely be a cousin of the Bunny?

Families will then be brought on a specially tailored tour of Croke Park, where they’ll learn about the history and operation of the 82,000-seater stadium, as well as getting the chance to walk along the side of the pitch and visit the dressing rooms.

Little ones will need to pay close attention to the tour as the guide will be giving clues that can be used in the egg hunt. They’ll need to ‘crack’ clues and collect eggs around the stadium before returning to the GAA Museum, where they can trade in their egg collection for a Kinder Egg reward.

The experience finishes at Cú Chulainn’s Den, where children can decorate their own egg cup and play with the selection of educational toys. And they can put their sports skills to use as well as their crafts skills in the museum’s interactive games zones.

Educational, interactive and lots of fun, this sounds like a great Easter experience that’s not solely about the sugar rush.

The Croke Park Easter Eggsperience runs on Sunday, 5 April and then daily from Saturday 11 to Monday 13 April, between 10.30am and 2.30pm.

Tickets cost €10 for adults and €11 for children, with under 3s going free. Family tickets are also available, priced at €40 for two adults and two children, and €46 for two adults and three children. Tickets can be booked at crokepark.ie/easter.
