A Christmas market and festival is coming to Dublin this December and it sounds magical

Kat O'Connor

Entry to this incredible market and festival is free.

Last Christmas was tainted by Covid-19 so we’re feeling that tiny bit more hopeful about the holidays this year.

Vaccines are protecting us from Covid and restrictions are set to ease even more later this month.

We don’t want to jinx anything, but it does feel like we’ve returned to some semblance of normality?

There’s no doubt that everyone will want to fill this Christmas with dozens of magical memories and we’ve got the perfect place to kick-start your festive celebrations.

The legendary Fruit and Vegetable market in Dublin will re-open this December. The market will host a magical Christmas festival that you simply cannot miss.

Mistletown is due to take place from December 4th and entry is free.

The event will include food and drink stands, a vintage funfair, craft, and gift stands, and even Santa himself.

There will also be special performances to keep everyone pleasantly entertained.

Organisers have stressed that there will be plenty of room for people to practice social distancing at the venue.

Mistletown is set to create an incredible 300 jobs in the capital this December.

Commenting on the Christmas market and festival, Dublin’s Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland said: “Mistletown and events like it give us an opportunity to breathe life back into the city centre and in this case it also brings back into temporary use Dublin’s iconic Fruit and Veg Market, which is fantastic.

“The market will have something to offer for people of all ages and tastes and I look forward to seeing it come to life. It will no doubt enhance the Dublin experience over the month of December,” she added.

The merry festival will take place until December 23rd.
