'If you are reading this the surgery did not go well.'

A teenager has shared a letter given to her by her mum before she passed away from cancer.

Hannah Summers took to Twitter to post the heartbreaking letter her mum wrote for her before she died.

Hannah’s mum, Peggy, also wrote her other siblings letters too.

“Please hug your parents a little closer and never take them for granted,” wrote the teen, “because you never know when you could lose them.”

Hannah’s letter reads:

“If you are reading this then the surgery did not go well. I’m sorry, I tried my best to beat this horrible disease but I guess God had other things for me to do.

“Please don’t be mad, bad things happen in life and we have to learn to deal with it no matter how much it hurts.

“I want you to be happy and use the gifts God has given you.”

Peggy then tells her daughter that she’s going to make a “wonderful nurse” and that she shouldn’t worry about not getting a job right away.

She also tells her to be patient with her dad because “he will need time.”

“Remember that I am still with you and still just as proud of you as I have always been.

“If you have kids someday make sure they know how much I love them and wanted to be there to see them.

“You are going to do great in life and I will be there smiling with you through all the important moments.”

Hannah’s tweet has since been retweeted over 100,000 times and liked almost 320,000 times.

The likes of Patricia Arquette, Elizabeth Thorp, and others have paid their condolences to the teenager.

Hannah has also been sharing photos and videos of her mum on her Twitter across for the past while.

She says she misses her “being happy and healthy.”
