EPIC is running Virtual Kids and Teenager Summer Camps during the summer

Melissa Carton

Summer camps are not cancelled thanks to EPIC.

Every summer my kids love taking part in summer camps so when they were cancelled this year due to COVID-19 they were really disappointed.

Thankfully EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum has it covered.

EPIC’s Virtual Summer Camps include everything from interactive storytelling for tiny tots, aged two to five years, to the EPIC Explorers Imagination Camp for ages 12 and under.

There will also be a Stories That Move Camp for teens which includes oral storytelling, theatre and visual media tasks.

Tiny Tots Storytelling (delivered via Zoom) in this interactive storytelling session you and your tot will sing songs, draw pictures and meet a whole host of characters including the Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship, victorious Vikings, the nautical navy and a singing submarine!

The Imagination Camp (also delivered via zoom,) will introduce kids to the history behind exploration and travel, before being encouraged to use their ingenuity to complete tasks such as making their own boat, designing the surface of the moon, and discovering animal tracks, all out of whatever materials and objects they can find at home!

The summer camp is supported by a range of online ‘history-at-home’ resource packs.

With five different themed workshops, tickets can be purchased for one, three or five day sessions. Prices start from €5.00 for one workshop, €10.00 for three and €15.00 for five or avail of our special family ticket for €40.00 which includes entry to EPIC along with all five workshops.

Through the Stories That Move Camp kids will get to learn how to tell engaging stories to ignite imaginations and inspire generations alongside EPIC’s curatorial team in this two-day summer camp for teens.

Exploring the history of Irish storytelling and how museums tell stories, teens will try their hand at everything from biographical and creative writing, to oral storytelling, theatre and visual media tasks, coming away with an eclectic portfolio of techniques to work on for days and weeks to come.

Price for a two day ticket is €20.00 or purchase an EPIC family ticket for €40.00 which includes access to EPIC and the two day workshop.
