What’s On: 5 family activities you can’t miss out on this weekend

The weekend is almost here and there’s no doubt the kids cannot wait to abandon their uniforms after schools re-opened this week.

Why not do something special to mark their first week back in the classroom?

We’ve gathered together 5 of the best family activities this weekend so feel free to thank us later.

  1. Mary Poppins at The Stella (Saturday September 4, 9.45 am)

Why not escape to the beautiful Stella cinema this weekend? The movie haven located in Rathmines is screening the magical Mary Poppins this weekend. The Disney movie will be screening at 09.45 am on Saturday, September 4. A supercalifragilisticexpialidocious outing awaits.

2. Proms in the Park, Merrion Square (Sunday September 5, 2pm)

The sun is set to make an appearance this weekend so why not head into the city to hear some live music at Proms in the Park? The delightful short concert features music from James Bond to Prokofiev. Music for the whole family and everybody is welcome!

3. Apple Picking at Sonairte (Sunday September 5, 2 pm)

The ultimate Autumn activity! Spend some time in this peaceful nature haven in Laytown. Your family can pick all the apples you can in a 1-hour slot for just €10 per family.

4. Autism Surfing Progamme (Sunday, September 5, 2.30 pm)

This surfing programme for children with autism starts this weekend in Galway. Taking place on Carrowniskey Beach for 5 weeks. Prices from €22.20.

5. Slime Workshop at the Cottage Market Mountrath (Saturday, September 4, 11am)

Head to Laois for a slime workshop that’ll keep the kids happily entertained.

They get to make two different types of slime – and bring home two tubs of ‘slimy goodness’.
