Ireland’s first ‘rain pool’ is here and it’s perfect for children’s sensitive skin

Melissa Carton

Growing up I was always aware of common skin irritants.

My mother has eczema and extremely sensitive skin and even though she loves swimming would often have to skip pool trips because of the chlorine in the water.

Children are also susceptible to having skin reactions to chemicals such as chlorine as their skin is a lot more sensitive than most adults.

Now Irish families can enjoy the pool without having to worry about reactions to the water as Ireland now has it’s first ‘rain pool’.

With 70 to 90 per cent less chlorine in the water than most pools, this rain pool is perfect for those with skin conditions like eczema.

Located in Cork’s Hibernian Hotel and Leisure Centre, the rain pool is softer on your skin and hair and ideal for small children and babies.

It is also more environmentally friendly and has a lower carbon footprint than most other pools.

With the summer holidays only around the corner, many of us will be looking into where to book for a little break away with the kids.

If you or your child have very sensitive skin and often have to skip the pool due to chlorine levels, Cork’s rain pool may be the solution to making sure everyone in the family can take part in some well-deserved pool time.
