Looking for something to do with the kids this weekend?

Melissa Carton

For the sixth year running, Dublin will be hosting its annual kite festival.

Taking place this Sunday 10 June at North Bull Island Clontarf, it’s set to be a day of family fun in the sun.

With the school holidays just around the corner, this is a great way to get started on some fantastic summer memories.

If you’d love to bring the kids but like me, you haven’t flown a kite since 1999, don’t worry. There will be kite experts on hand if you should need some refreshing, or you have a child who is flying a kite for the first time.

People from all over Ireland have made this part of their summertime ritual and it’s easy to see why.

There’s free entertainment all day long, kite making workshops and it’s held in one of the most beautiful scenic spots in Dublin. There will also be a kite making competition for the crafty kids in the crowd.

My husband is mad to bring our son kite flying so I think we may have to swing by this Sunday and get in on some of the fun.

Last year’s festival saw thousands attend and this year the summer spectacular is expected to be just as popular.

It can sometimes be stressful finding ways to occupy the kids during the holidays but with lots of music, face painting and kite flying fun, the kids will love it.

With a jam-packed schedule from 11-5, it’s the perfect way to spend a sunny Sunday.
