OK, we’re gonna officially announce that summer is finally HERE!

And even if the weather doesn’t hold up, it’s nevertheless the June Bank Holiday weekend… and we’re looking forward to days out, activities, and special occasions with the fam.

But before you hear cries of “we’re borreeedd” or “we wanna dooooo something” we have your Friday, Saturday, Sunday completely sorted.

Welcome to your incredible shared moments of joy – in association with Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons.

1) The Cats Laughs

The famous comedy festival once again arrives in Kilkenny. And while much of the schedule caters for adults, Kidocracy takes place on Saturday at 1pm. With tickets €10, this is a wonderful interactive event for children aged 6-plus. Otherwise, the Ireland Vs Rest Of The World football match takes place at the Fairgreen on Kickham Street at 2pm on Sunday. It’s free to attend.

2) Bloom Festival

A firm family favourite taking place in the Phoenix Park, the garden show extraordinaire is a four-day long festival that’s just perfect for small ones. From fun on the farm, to playgrounds, and interactive food demos – the whole household will be kept happy. Better still, all children under the age of 16 are absolutely free (an adult ticket will cost you €16).

3) Cork Harbour Festival

Celebrating Cork’s beautiful natural harbour, the festival begins on Saturday. There are lots of brilliant events taking place from Crosshaven to Cobh, East Cork to Cork City, and Ringaskiddy to Spike Island. The festival embraces Ireland’s maritime culture and heritage, and attracts thousands of spectators and participants annually. Most of what is organised is free too.

4) Connemara Bog Week

Take your pick from a family fun day in Letterfrack, to daily guided walks in the Connemara National Park, and Kylemore Abbey concerts – last year this event was a massive success and it’s sure to prove even more popular in 2017. Think music, talking, walking, and poetry – with plenty of family-friendly happenings to choose from too.

5) Listowel Writers’ Week

Listowel offers a jam-packed schedule from Thursday to Sunday for kiddies aged from pre-walkers to teens. Families can dip into the likes of workshops, craft, reading, writing, and music. We love the sounds of a treasure hunt on Saturday at 3.30pm and the Harry Potter event taking place on Sunday at 10.30am. Plenty of events are free, but others carry a charge up to €15 – and as Listowel is immensely popular, make sure to book as soon as you can.

Colouring; puzzles; recipes, and more: our HerFamily Shared Moments Of Joy PDF will keep your littles ones entertained for hours. You can find it here.

And if you have a child aged six years or older, make sure to enter our amazing Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Buttons competition to be in with a chance of winning a spot on our adventure day out at the Lough Allen Centre on June 22.

Activities on the day include the likes of archery, rafting, and paddle-boarding. That’s not all: all participants will be awarded a goodie bag and certificate. All you have to do is fill out the form below:
