What’s On This Weekend: Family events you can’t miss out on

A fun-filled weekend awaits!

The weekend is finally here and we’ve got two days to fill with activities that’ll tire the kids out.

Luckily, there are a bunch of events happening across the country, especially with Culture Night kicking off on Friday, September 17.

Circus Factory in Carrigaline (Friday, September 17)

Circus Factory brings stories, colour, and life of circus arts to the streets of Cork. Taking place between 4 and 9 pm, this family-friendly event is a must on Friday evening. No booking is required.

Theatre in the Park, Ranelagh (Sunday, September 19)

Ranelagh Arts are hosting a theatre in the park this weekend. The event is recommended for teens over 14 so this is the perfect way to get them out of the house and away from their phones.

A voluntary contribution is welcome.

The event takes place in Dartmouth Square between 2 pm and 4 pm.

St. Anne’s City Farm, Dublin 5 (All Weekend)

Take a visit to this city farm with the kids this weekend. They can meet all the farmyard animals they can think of at this St. Anne’s Farm.

The Dublin-based farm is the perfect place to visit on a sunny morning.

Admission is free.

Equinox Circus Festival, Achill Island (Sunday, September 19)

Join scientists-turned-circus artistes Maria and Aoife to discover the amazing science behind their astounding tricks. This outdoor event takes place between 12 pm and 1 pm. This event celebrates the autumnal equinox.

Admission is free but get down early.

The Great Mountain View Bake Off, Kilkenny (Sunday, September 19)

If you’ve got a teen at home who is a wannabe baker then this is the event for them. This one is strictly over 16s so the youngest will have to stay at home, but teens are welcome.

All proceeds from the amateur baking contest will be donated to Jigsaw Mental Health Charity.

The entry fee is €10 per person.

Clane Musical and Dramatic Society (Friday, September 17th)

Join the Clane Musical and Dramatic Society for a selection of songs and scenes from your favourite shows outdoors at The Abbey in Clane.

The family-friendly and wheelchair-accessible event takes place between 7 pm and 9 pm.

Barrack Street Concert Band, Waterford (Friday, September 17th)

Enjoy the sounds of the Barrack Street Concert Band at Bailey’s New Street at 7 pm. No booking is required for this family-friendly event. If you’ve been missing live music then this is the event for you.

Ulysses for Kids at the James Joyce Centre, Dublin (Friday, September 17th)

Introduce the kids to Ulysses through performance, song, and storytelling. The performance will bring Ulysses to life and explain the elements at the heart of the book.

This performance lasts around 50 minutes, and all ages are welcome.
