Alexandra Burke broke down in tears after performing a song dedicated to her late mum on Loose Women.
The singer was performing the song that she had written just before her mum, Melissa Bell, passed away last summer.
Alexandra said that she doesn’t want her mum’s spirit to “go away.”
She told the Loose Women ladies today:
“I don’t want her spirit to go away so I try my best to do what I can. I wrote that song before she passed, so she heard it.
“She never gave up.”
Melissa passed away last August, right before Alexandra began performing on Strictly Come Dancing.
The singer said that the people on the show were incredibly supportive during the tough time.
She said:
“I felt that I kept my silence for long time, for 11 weeks, and I didn’t say anything back, I didn’t want to fight fire with fire, so I just concentrated on having a good time.
“And they are so supportive.”
The singer recently announced her engagement to boyfriend Joshua Ginnelly in January.
She shared an Instagram post with the words “I said yes!” written on her palm.
