Blake Lively on how daughter James really feels about being a big sister

She’s developed a special way to show her sisterly love

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ daughter James may have lost her only child title last year, but she’s adjusting well to being a big sister.

The couple welcomed their second child, Ines, last September. And her mum said told how two-year-old James has taken to being a big sister really well – sort of.

In fact, she’s developed a special way to show her sisterly love.

She told Jimmy Fallon:

“She’s good. She loves her sister.

“She does the thing where she’s just like ‘Oh, I’m loving her so much but I’m actually really harming her right now.’

“You know that thing? And I think she knows what she’s doing.”

And it turns out James has been trying to assert her big sister power in a sneaky (but totally adorable) way, especially when it comes to Halloween.

The Gossip Girl star explained:

“We were talking about Halloween and she was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to be Cinderella.

“And I said, ‘Oh, that’s so special. Does Baby Ines get to be Elsa?’

“‘No, Mike Wazowski.’ From Monsters Inc. The one-eyed round monster. That’s what she has to be, is Mike Wazowski.

“And then I was like, ‘But what about Moana? And maybe you can be Moana and she can be, I don’t know, Te Fiti, this beautiful mountain?’

“And she wanted her to be Heihei, the weird dumb chicken that’s like, bok bok bok.”

And James almost succeeded with the Mike Wazowski costume – until dad Ryan Reynolds shut it down.

Blake explained:

“I always have really elaborate suggestions for him [Ryan].  I wanted him to be Sully.

“If Ines is going to be Mike Wazowski, I wanted him to have the full Sully furry face.

“But we have to put on a lot of crazy faces for our job anyways, so maybe that would be too much.”
