Bride surprises her granny by wearing her wedding dress on the big day

“I married my high school sweetheart in this dress, now so will you."

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…

A bride in the US ticked a couple of those off in one go recently when she chose to wear her grandmother’s wedding dress for her own big day.

Jordyn Cleverly had been on the hunt for something with a vintage feel for her bridal gown but didn’t have any luck until she came across the dress her granny wore when she tied the knot in 1962.

The fact that she had never met her grandfather, who died before she was born, made it even more special, she told Babble.

Jordyn kept the fact that she’d chosen to wear the dress a secret until the day of the wedding, when a photographer was able to capture the big reveal.

Kortney Peterson of Kortney J Photography said the shoot was “a first look unlike anything I’d done before.”

“Grandma had zero idea! Yes. You guessed it. I bawled,” she wrote on Facebook.

Jordyn took after her granny in more ways than one as she and her new husband have been together since they were teenagers, just as her the grandmother and grandfather had been when they tied the knot 55 years before.

“I married my high school sweetheart in this dress, now so will you,” Jordan’s granny told her.

Ah, stop.
