A common practice with a lot of parents.

A common practice with a lot of parents.

Frankie Bridge, of The Saturdays fame, has opened up about her parenting habits in Giovanna Fletcher‘s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast. Giovanna is married to McFly star Tom Fletcher and is a well-known author, YouTuber and public figure.

Frankie appears in Giovanna’s latest podcast to chat all things parenting. The pair have been friends for years and bonded over their mutual fame but admitted that they mostly liked to meet up for cups of tea rather than attend events. So, the podcast is more like two friends chatting than Giovanna interviewing Frankie.

While chatting to Giovanna, Frankie said that she surprised herself when she became a parent as she always thought she would be really strict, when in reality it’s her husband Wayne who is the strict one.

She said, “I thought that I would be able to say no and be really strict but I find it really difficult. I’m such a push-over and Wayne is the strict one.”

Frankie has two children, three-year-old Parker and Carter who recently turned two.

When it came to chatting about bedtime, Frankie admitted that she found herself giving in to him easier than she thought she would. She felt bad leaving him crying in the cot but it resulted in Parker getting his way for a lot longer than planned. “He won a lot, I mean he does currently sleep in my bed.”

She did say that it does depend on how she’s feeling each night with Parker, who turns four next month, getting his way because she’s not forcing him to go to his room.

“It depends on whether I’m feeling like I really can’t be bothered to go through the motions of putting him to bed or whether I’m being strict that day to be honest.

I know it’s bad for your relationship and this, that and the other and sometimes I do really feel like I need that child-free time in the evening, but I do also love him being there.”

She added:

“I love seeing him asleep and when he comes and snuggles into me.

And he’s not going to be there forever, but I do blame myself as I did always lay with him until he fell asleep.”

Meanwhile, her younger son prefers his cot to getting cuddles before sleep, with Giovanna agreeing that the exact same pattern happened with her first born and second born.
