Gordon Ramsay talks all the family sacrifices he’s made for his career

Orlaith Condon

The dad-of-four spoke honestly about the toll his career has taken on his family.

Gordon Ramsay is arguably one of the most successful chefs in the world. However, with that success comes a large price to pay.

Appearing on MasterChef, Gordon made efforts to try and console a contestant who broke down on the show after she missed her son’s first day of school.

Speaking candidly about his own experiences, the dad-of-four said went on to speak about what he’s had to sacrifice for his job.

“Chloe, everybody needs to sacrifice to get to the top,” the dad-of-four told the hopeful contestant.

“This competition’s a phenomenon. The rewards at the top are extraordinary.

“I can give you 25 examples of what I’ve missed with my four kids over the last 10 years. And it kills me.”

However, the 51-year-old says he now knows that that is the sacrifice he has to make.

“But you get to a certain level of success in life, and there’s a price to pay for that.

“So park that and continue on that journey.”

Gordon and his wife Tana are parents to Megan 20, twins Jack and Holly, 18, and Matilda, 16.
