New details about Amy Barlow’s Corrie teen pregnancy have emerged

It’s apparently very funny.

New details about Amy Barlow’s teen pregnancy storyline on Coronation Street have emerged and to be honest, they’re not quite what we were expecting.

Where you’d expect storylines such as those where a 14-year-old gets pregnant via a bully who then threatens her into having an abortion that she doesn’t have anyway would be pretty tense at all times, according to Corrie producers, it’s not going to be like that at all.

Rather, the whole debacle is actually going to be a bit gas… some of the time.

The soap’s boss Iain MacLeod has said that Amy’s pregnancy is going to be “exploring a mix of emotional and humorous moments” between her and parents, Steve and Tracy.

Heat reports that MacLeod said the story is going to become about a lot more than Amy’s unborn child.

“The story becomes more than being just about a teenage pregnancy,” he said.

“It becomes about family and Steve and Tracy’s relationship – it forces them to instantly grow up and be parents for the first time in history.

“It’s really good – it gives a leading role to Elle Mulvaney, who deserves the chance to step up and do something a bit more grown up. I’m very much looking forward to that.”

MacLeod then went on to say some of the scenes with Steve and Tracy are particularly funny because the pair of them haven’t got a clue what to do.

“Steve and Tracy dealing with a teenage pregnancy is not like a normal couple dealing with a teen pregnancy! There are scenes reminiscent of Peter Griffin in Family Guy – Steve goes fully postal at certain times.

“It’s very funny, classic Steve with that Corrie heart. It’s heartbreaking but ridiculous at the same time.”

Bring it on.
