Kate Middleton’s family influence on Harry’s marriage to Meghan

Jade Hayden

The royal family are pretty close.

They just are.

And you would be, like. Most of the time, you can’t hang out with anybody other than the people you live with (or live incredibly close to) so you might as well just make the best of things and be best mates.

Make it easier for yourself, y’know?

Two members of the royal family who are particularly close are Kate and Harry.

They’ve known each other for years, she’s married to his brother, they spend a lot of time together – makes sense, like.

It makes even more sense then that Kate would’ve had a massive influence on Harry’s decision to propose to – and subsequently marry – Meghan all those months ago.

One could even go so far as to say that this marriage wouldn’t have happened without Kate.

Like, it might have – but if one of your best mates doesn’t like the person you’re seeing, you’re less inclined to go and tie the knot, aren’t you?

Yes, you definitely are, don’t question it.

Anyway, that’s apparently exactly what happened when Prince Harry was figuring out whether he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Meghan or not (and honestly, who among us wouldn’t want to?).

According to Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, Katie Nicholl, Kate has such a “strong influence” on Harry that he definitely wouldn’t have kept things going if it weren’t for Kate’s approval.

“Harry and Kate are very close,” she said, “she’s been like a mentor to him and he wanted her seal of approval.”

Makes a lot sense too because awhile back, in a documentary called William and Harry: Brothers In Arms, journalist Ashley Pearson said something similar.

“Kate has a very strong presence in Harry’s life and has strong opinions,” she said.

“So I think Harry very much wants the kind of girl that Kate would like and I think her opinion’s very important to him.

“I think he seeks her advice about girls, and ultimately he wants to bring home someone that’s as widely respected and loved the way his sister-in-law is.”

Seems legit, yeah.

You chose well anyway, Harry. She’s some gal.
