Kelly Brook harshly criticised for comments on working mums

Kelly Brook is facing criticism for her comments on parents who supposedly use their kids as an excuse to ‘slack off’ work.

The model said that she didn’t agree with mums and dads who decide to blame their childcare duties on not being able to “meet the demands” of their jobs.

Speaking on Loose Women today, Brook said:

“I don’t think women or people should use kids as an excuse not to do their jobs properly.
“I just think it is nobody’s business. It’s your private life and if you can’t meet the demands of your job, don’t blame your kids.”
Brook, who doesn’t have any children of her own, said that doing the school run shouldn’t be an “excuse” for showing up to work late.
However, she did say allowances should be made if the child is legitimately sick.
“If your kids are sick, that’s another thing!
“But I have been in situations with parents where it’s not about the kids being sick it’s just that they’ve got to do the school run.”
Viewers, however, did not agree with Brook’s opinions on working mums and dads.
“I’d like to see how you’d get on IF you ever have kids,” said one user. “Funny how 3rd rate celebs complain about working mums yet they are the ones who complain about every small thing.”
“Maybe Kelly Brook should try being a working mum before she comments,” said another.
“Juggling children and work, household is sometimes hard!! Maybe more help in the workplace would be better!” suggested someone else.
As it stands, the gender pay gap already exists due to the lack of opportunities that exist for women – and in particular, mothers – in the workplace.
This includes non-adequate maternity leave, fewer promotions for women, and far less job opportunities for working mothers.
