London mum offers free spare room to other parent for ‘company and support’

Jade Hayden

A mum has offered her spare room for free to another parent for “company” and “mutual support.”

Londoner Frances said that she was offering the rent-free room in Primhose Hill because she wanted to “foster a warm, nurturing, proactive and FUN environment in the house in which to raise our children!”

A single mother herself, Frances said that she didn’t care what kind of person took her room, as long as their parenting methods were similar and that their child wasn’t under three-years-old “due to the layout of the house.”

On renting website SpareRoom.co.uk, she wrote:

“I am a warm, friendly single mum to a nine year old, twin 4 year old boys and two cats, looking to offer you & your child/children of a similar age free accommodation in my large house in Primrose Hill.

“You will have your own gorgeous, sunny, newly furnished large double room (either twin or double bed) and private ensuite bathroom. There is the possibility of another room in the house free if your child needs it.

“By sharing a house I’m hoping for company, mutual support and to foster a warm, nurturing, proactive and FUN environment in the house in which to raise our children!”

She also urged applicants without children not to insult her by applying.

Frances has been praised online for her selfless and kind move in the midst of London’s housing crisis.
