Lucy Kennedy shares how she coped when she went back to work after her third baby

Lucy Kennedy revealed that she got through being separated from her kids while filming TV3’s Livin’ With Lucy by avoiding talking to them.

The presenter is mum to eight-year-old Jack, Holly, six, and one-year-old Jess.

She got back to work five months after she gave birth to Jess in December 2016.

Though she was only away for two nights and three days, staying with hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald in Clare, she found being away from the family difficult.

“I definitely struggled,” she revealed to The Mirror.

“I do what most parents who have to work and leave their children do, I just had to switch off.

“I didn’t look at pictures, I spoke to my husband Richard but I didn’t speak to the children because if I heard their voices or saw their faces, I think it would set me back.

“I’d just focus on the job at hand knowing they were happy. Richard, my mum or my mum-in-law would keep me updated.”

“You’ve just got to do what you’ve got to do.

Lucy is now presenting Ireland’s Got Talent and says that the upcoming live show will be less pressure than the auditions.

She previously said that she couldn’t bear to work full time now that she has three kids.

“I couldn’t work full-time because I miss them too much,” she said last year.

“I bring Jack and Holly into TV3. I’ve snuck them into loads of meetings.”
