As gender reveals are becoming more and more popular for expectant parents, it seems like many are trying to go outside of the box with their announcements.
And while cakes and balloons can be oh-so-cute, these soon-to-be parents decided to take inspo from their favourite TV show.
According to HuffPost, Krystal Jugarap is expecting her first child with her partner, Daniel Vongnakhone and they both love the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Giving a nod to Winona Ryder’s character, Joyce, they decided to recreate the scene where she communicates to her son, who is in the Upside Down, with fairy lights.
Speaking to the publication, Krystal said that her boyfriend came up with the idea.
“He claims the idea just came to him, but I’m sure someone from the Upside Down had flickered some street lights on Daniel’s way home to spark the idea,” she joked.
Taking instruction from a tutorial he found online, Daniel recreated the Stranger Things scene in their apartment to spell out ‘It’s a girl’.
The couple then posted the video to Reddit, however, they said that even though they’re obsessed with the sci-fi show, they will be giving a nod to Star Wars when they come to name their daughter, explaining that they’ll possibly name their daughter after Princess Leia.
