3 energy-boosting (and VERY tasty) drinks to kick-start your mornings

Enjoy the glow!

Trine Jensen-Burke

I don’t know about you, but I often find that if I start the day on a (nutritionally speaking) good foot, I am so much more inclined to eat more or less healthy(ish) for the rest of the day too.

As in; I don’t really want to ruin my good start, I guess.

Another benefit to starting your day with something really good-for-you is not only the immediate energy boost it will give you (and sure we could all do with that, no?), but also the very addictive glow you’ll start seeing in your skin soon if you keep this up.

I am always on the hunt for fresj breakfast smoothie ideas, and for the next couple of weeks, I am planning on making these three on repeat:

1. Beet and Strawberry Smoothie

Just you wait until you see how tasty this actually is!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup roasted beets
  • 2 cups strawberries
  • 1 cup plain whole milk yogurt
  • 2 TB honey
  • 1 banana

Make

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  2. Trim the tops and tails off the beets and cut in half. Place on a large sheet of foil.
  3. Drizzle beets with olive oil and cover with the remaining foil.
  4. Bake for about an hour or until beets are soft when pierced with a fork. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  5. Once cool, peel off the skins.
  6. In a storage bag combine beets and 1/2 cup orange juice. Store marinated beets in the fridge for up to a week.
  7. Place all ingredients in a blender.
  8. Blend until smooth.
