3 festive and fun baking projects to take on with the kids this week

Nothing says holiday season like some festive baking.

Not long left to go.

And if your kids are getting a little restless waiting for Santa’s arrival (God knows mine sure are!), what you need is some easy project to keep them occupied with while we wait.

Get them into the kitchen for an afternoon of some fun baking – because not only will it whittle away a couple of hours, it will also yield some lovely treats at the end of it.

Win-win.

1. Gingerbread Reindeer

Not only are these perfectly easy to make with kids, they also make yummy edible gifts for friends and family. Oh, and want a third reason to whip these up? They’ll also make (delicious) Christmas tree decorations!

2. Reindeer Cupcakes

If these aren’t the cutest thing you have seen, well, we don’t know what you are made of.

For the cupcakes (these are gingerbread ones) you could pretty much use whatever base you’d like, we think. And then the topping is actually rather simple too (yet so effing cute!). Brown frosting, white fondant, sugar pears and little antlers made out of chocolate. (Tip: You could also break a mini pretzel in two, and use the part for antlers – Pinterest is full of suggestions for how to do this!)

3. Three-Ingredient Christmas Shortbread Cookies

For younger kids, what you need is a seriously quick and easy baking project – and this is it. Not only are they rather addictive they are that delicious, they also keep nicely for days, making them a tasty edible gift.
