5 brilliant buggy-friendly lunch spots in Cork

Park up and chill out

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Whether you’re venturing out to meet mates during maternity leave or navigating town on a Saturday, finding somewhere decent for a coffee and with a buggy in tow ain’t easy.

This week we continue our buggy-friendly tour of Ireland with a round-up of the best brunch and lunch venues in the Rebel county…

THE SUGAR CUBE, Grand Parade & South Mall

cube

This cute little cube overlooking the water near Nano Nagle bridge is home to mind-blowing crepes, kid-friendly breakfasts and healthy lunches. Treat yourself to an Affogato (double espresso poured over vanilla ice cream, €3.50).

PERRY STREET MARKET, Perry St. Cork

Using as many local artisan suppliers as possible, the Perry Street crew create a daily menu of specials so there’s something new every day. Order at the counter to be allocated a wooden spoon, then your food will be brought to your table. You can also grab take out, jams, chutneys and breads to enjoy later, so that’s teatime sorted as well.

THE BOOKSHELF, Pembroke St. Cork

This quirky coffee house has been attracting java-loving Mums since it opened in the atmospheric former Cork Library. Order a healthy soup, a raspberry scone or a speciality Mr Benoit’s hot chocolate and chill out with a good book as long as your tiny companion allows.

THE BODEGA, Cornmarket St. Cork

With plenty of seating, wide passages for buggies and a delicious menu, The Bodega offers full table service at breakfast, lunch and dinner, meaning that once you’re settled, you don’t have to move a muscle until you leave.

ELECTRIC, South Mall

ElectricBarCork

The light-filled art-deco inspired bar of Electric is a stylish place to enjoy a coffee or a light bite, with ample room for little ones too. Order a Reuben (silverside, Swiss Cheese, sauerkraut, Dijon mustard) from the Express Daytime Menu (12pm -3pm) and sit outdoors by the gushing Lee if the weather allows.
